What NPR Has Been Doing!

NPR has been working to weaken and delegitimize Israel and to promote anti-Semitism by:

• presenting biased, unbalanced, and distorted coverage of Israel and the Middle East

• failing to report adequately on important parts of the story, such as:

  • the vicious anti-Semitic incitement by Arab governments and the Palestinian Authority via their official media

  • the threatening of reporters who don't follow the Palestinian Authority line in their stories

What You Can Do!

• Whenever you receive a solicitation in the mail from your NPR affiliate, don't just throw it away. Fill out the pledge card, checking the "other" amount box and writing "ZERO". Then fill out one of our "No Pledge" cards and send back both forms to the station. Do this even if you have to add your own postage. We must give NPR the message!

• Even if you do not receive a solicitation, just address your own envelope and send in the appropriate "No Pledge" form. You can do this several times a year, just to remind them how you feel!

• Whenever an NPR station is holding a phonathon, call in and tell the volunteer politely that you will not make a pledge because of the biased and distorted reporting on the Middle East. Ask them to pass your message on to the management.

• If you have recently made a pledge to an NPR-affiliated station, write to them requesting a refund of that contribution. Remarkably, a number of people have, indeed, received refunds! Here is a link for a sample refund request letter.

• Write to Underwriters: Try to get underwriters of your NPR station to cancel their support. For WBUR in Boston, we have provided a page with a list of underwriters and some sample letters.

Pick the Appropriate "No Pledge" Form

We have provided two types of "No Pledge" form, with slightly different wording, for each of a number of NPR affiliates across the country. The table at the bottom of this page has links to the forms. They are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, which most web browsers will display and allow you to print. If this doesn't work for you, see the instructions later.

If you haven't been giving to your NPR affiliate, tell them that you are not going to, and tell them WHY with a form like this one!

If you were once a contributor, tell them that you have stopped giving, and tell them WHY with a form like this one!

If clicking on a link in the "Refuse To Give" or "Stop Giving" columns below does not open the "No Pledge" form in your browser, but instead asks you if you want to download the file, you should download it, paying attention to the directory or folder in which it is stored. Later, you can locate and open the file in the Adobe Reader using "My Computer" or the "Windows Explorer" (or Mac equivalent). If you do not have the Adobe Reader installed on your computer, you can download a free copy from Adobe by clicking on the link below.

When you click on an icon in the "Refuse To Give" or "Stop Giving" column, a page with three copies of the corresponding form will open in your browser. These forms have been designed so that groups can produce them efficiently for distribution at meetings. When you click on an icon in the "Flyer/Poster" column, a page will open that can be printed and used as a poster or flyer. It includes some background information about NPR bias along with a single "No Pledge" form.

The first entry below is for forms to be sent directly to the president of NPR in Washington. Everyone should send in this form in addition to the form(s) for your local NPR affiliate station(s).
